We are complicated beings. It's very possible to have what seems like several different feelings about deeply genuine parts of ourselves. And because we constantly tell ourselves a story about who we are, it's possible to have genuine desires that seem to conflict with that conscious internal narrative. Guilt and confusion follow.

Perhaps the remedy for that disconnect is a bit of understanding, a new story to tell ourselves. 

Write down a desire you're less than comfortable with. Acknowledge it. If it makes you very uncomfortable, acknowledge also that you never have to act on it. 

And then take a moment to reflect on where it comes from. Our experiences are we have, and together they make us, us. So the opportunity here is to be honest with yourself, to find a way to learn from seemingly strange desires and build them into a smarter internal conversation about who you are.
